Dublin, Ireland's capital city, was founded by the invading Vikings over a thousand years ago. The city, located on the mouth of the River Liffey, has an urban population of over one million people and has been a thriving international commercial hub for centuries. Dublin has also long been a home of the arts and has produced several famous winners of the Nobel Prize in Literature, including Samuel Beckett and William Butler Yeats. Allied with a very progressive state-education policy, the country has built huge capabilities in manufacturing, design, and international business management.

In May 2010, Maxim Integrated Products International (MIPI) opened its offices in the leafy suburb of Clonskeagh near the center of Dublin. Clonskeagh is located close to the historic district of Donnybrook and is adjacent to a cluster of international high-tech companies, including Nokia, Ericsson, and HP. MIPI is also close to many cultural attractions and heritage sites, and employs over 80 people, representing nearly 20 different nationalities.

MIPI is an "International Business Center" responsible for the revenue flow of three regions—Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), Asia, and Japan—as well as full stream "quote to cash" processes. It has immediately developed into a "deep and wide" organization that includes Customer Service in three channels: Maxim Direct, OEM, and Distribution. These functions are supported by Finance (AP, AR Credit, and Collections), Internal Applications, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, IT, and HR.
