FULLY INTEGRATED LDO AND MICROPROCESSOR RESET CIRCUITS DELIVER 150mA IN A SOT23 PACKAGE

SUNNYVALE, CA-February 26, 2001-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX6329/MAX6349 low-dropout linear regulator and microprocessor reset circuits that integrate two functions into a single SOT23 package. These products are available with three preset outputs of +3.3V, +2.5V, and +1.8V that can deliver 150mA of output current. For each device, the output can also be adjusted with a resistor-divider network that enables voltages to be adjusted down to +1.2V.

The MAX6329/MAX6349 reset thresholds are set at 5% or 10% below the linear regulator nominal output. Whenever the regulated output voltage falls below the reset threshold, the reset output asserts and remains asserted for at least 100ms after the regulated output voltage exceeds the reset thresholds. The MAX6349 has a manual reset input feature to assert a reset from an external source. Three reset output versions are available for both devices: an active-low, push-pull reset output; an active-high reset output; and an active-low open-drain reset.

Other features include a shutdown mode (MAX6329) that reduces current consumption to under 1µA, a thermal shutdown feature that turns off the internal P-MOS switch when the junction temperature exceeds the specified maximum condition, and reverse-leakage current protection that prevents battery cell damage.

The combination of small size, low power (25µA), reverse-current protection, and shutdown makes these devices ideal for portable, battery-operated applications. All devices are available in a small 6-pin SOT23 package. Prices start at $1.38 (2500–up, FOB USA).
