SOT CIRCUIT PROTECTOR HANDLES ±36V OVERVOLTAGE FAULTS
SUNNYVALE, CA-August 2, 1999-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX4505 single-channel circuit protector. This device features a fault-protected input of ±36V with power on or ±40V with power off. During a fault condition, the input terminal becomes open circuit and only nanoamperes of leakage current flow from the source, while the switch output furnishes typically 19mA from the appropriate polarity supply to the load. This ensures unambiguous Rail-to-Rail® outputs when a fault begins and ends.
The MAX4505 can protect signals operating off of both unipolar (+9V to +36V) and bipolar (±8V to ±18V) power supplies. It features low on-resistance (100 ohms max). This device has no logic control inputs; the protectors are designed to be always on when the supplies are on.
The MAX4505 is available in tiny 5-pin SOT23 or 8-pin µMAX packages. Prices start from $0.83 (1000-up, FOB USA).
