INDUSTRY'S LOWEST COST AND SMALLEST DIGITAL POTENTIOMETER
SUNNYVALE, CA-June 30, 2001-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX5460–MAX5468 FleaPoT™, the smallest and lowest cost digital potentiometers available. These ultra-small 32-tap digital potentiometers come in 5-pin and 6-pin SC70 (2mm x 2mm) and SOT23 (3mm x 3mm) packages. The devices offer low supply current, excellent linearity, and extremely low end-to-end resistor temperature coefficient. They are ideal for applications such as LCD screen adjustments, volume control, and mechanical trim potentiometer replacement.
These digital potentiometers use an up/down 2-wire interface. They operate from a +2.7V to +5.5V single supply and consume only 0.35µA of supply current, making them the lowest power consuming digital pots on the market. The temperature coefficient is a low 35ppm/°C for the end-to-end resistance and 5ppm/°C for the ratiometric resistance. Glitchless switching between resistor taps ensures a smooth transition when changing wiper positions. The MAX5460 family offer resistances of 10kΩ, 50kΩ, and 100kΩ.
The MAX5460–MAX5468 enhance Maxim’s existing digital potentiometer line that includes other 32-tap devices as well as 256-tap single and dual pots. Prices start at $0.25 for the MAX5460/MAX5463 in 5-pin SC70, $0.35 for the MAX5461/MAX5462 and MAX5464/MAX5465 in 6-pin SC70, and $0.48 for the MAX5466/MAX5467/MAX5468 in 5- and 6-pin SOT23 (10,000-up FOB USA).
