40mW HEADPHONE DRIVER IN AN ULTRA-SMALL SC70
SUNNYVALE, CA-September 26, 2001-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX4335/MAX4336 single op amps in an ultra-small SC70 package, half the size of a SOT23. The combination of high output drive, low power consumption, low distortion, and a tiny footprint makes these op amps ideal as single-ended headphone drivers in portable audio applications. These devices have Rail-to-Rail inputs/outputs and can deliver 50mA of output drive while drawing only 1mA of quiescent supply current from a single +2.7V to +5.5V supply. THD+N is only 0.003% into a 10kΩ load from 20Hz to 20kHz.
The MAX4335/MAX4336 have a gain-bandwidth product of 5MHz and excellent power-supply rejection (90dB), eliminating the need for a low-dropout regulator, frequently required in audio applications. Additionally, the MAX4336 offers a 1µA mute/shutdown function. These op amps are guaranteed over the –40°C to +85°C temperature range. Prices for the MAX4335 start at $0.31 (100,000-up, FOB USA).
