TINY SOT SWITCHES OFFER ±36V FAULT PROTECTION
SUNNYVALE, CA-December 2, 1999-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX4510/MAX4520 fault-protected SPST switches. These devices feature a fault-protected input of ±36V with power on, or ±40V with power off. During a fault condition, the switch input terminal becomes an open circuit, allowing only nanoamperes of leakage current flow from the source, while the switch output furnishes up to 13mA from the appropriate polarity supply to the load. This feature enables unambiguous outputs when a fault begins and ends.
The MAX4510/MAX4520 can protect signals operating from both single (+9V to +36V) and dual (±4.5V to ±20V) power supplies. It features low on-resistance (160 ohms max), and off-leakage current is only 0.5nA at +25°C and 10nA at +85°C.
The MAX4510 is a normally closed switch, whereas the MAX4520 is a normally open switch. Both devices are available in tiny 6-pin SOT23 or 8-pin µMAX packages. Prices start from $0.92 (1000-up, FOB USA).
