電源セレクタ、デュアルバッテリ動作を簡素化し、システムコストを最小化
SUNNYVALE, CA-January 27, 2004-Maxim Integrated Products
(NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX1538, a highly integrated IC that provides power-source selection for notebook and subnotebook computers and dual-battery portable equipment.
Based on the presence of the power sources and the state of the batteries, this device selects one of the two batteries or an AC adapter to power the system. The MAX1538 also enables use of an airline adapter by disabling battery charging while using only the airline adapter to supply the system.
The MAX1538 performs most of the power-source monitoring and selection tasks independent of a power-management microprocessor. This allows the microprocessor to enter standby, reducing power consumption and simplifying power-management firmware.
The MAX1538 implements break-before-make for power-source selection, allowing hot-swapping of the battery packs. The IC supports both buck- and boost-topology chargers.
The MAX1538 is available in a space-saving, 28-pin TQFN package and is specified for the extended temperature range (-40°C to +85°C).
Prices start at $2.82 (1000-up, FOB USA). An evaluation kit is available with recommended external components to speed designs.
