The DS9092K iButton Starter Kit provides a basic understanding of what iButtons are and how they work. Using a personal computer, you will be able to read, write, and monitor iButtons. The iButton software drivers, a general-purpose memory viewer, and step-by-step tutorials are all available to download for free from this website.
The starter kit includes one of each of the parts listed below. If you need other parts for evaluation and testing you can request up to two samples of most of our parts here, or you can buy any of the parts from our online store.

Getting Started
The TMEX Runtime Environment (RTE) and Reference Manual are needed to evaluate all the functions of each iButton. First, download and install the RTE from here. The RTE comes with the iButton Viewer and a complete Help file. We strongly urge a thorough reading of the TMEX Runtime Environment Reference Manual before undertaking any experiments. This will save you time and help ensure a good first impression of iButtons. The iButton Viewer also comes in a Java version called the OneWireViewer.
Snap the RJ-11 end of the DS1402D-DR8 Blue Dot Receptor into the RJ-11 port on the DS9097U-S09. Connect the DS9097U-S09 serial-port adapter to an unused 9-pin COM port on your computer. The DS9097U-S09 is a 1-Wire to RS-232-C adapter. Install the RTE software and select the COM port used when prompted.
Snap one of the F5 version iButtons into one of the DS9093A fobs. Place the iButton on a firm surface, data side down. Firmly press the fob onto the iButton until the iButton snaps into place. The DS9093As are specifically made for the F5 iButtons, while the DS9093F can be used with any iButton. Simply slide the iButton into the DS9093F until it snaps into place.
Next execute the iButton Viewer on your PC. All details about the iButton Viewer are located in its Help file.
Snap an iButton into the Blue Dot receptor and you will see its address displayed on your PC in the Viewer. Double click on the address to access screens that show all the functions of each iButton.

The adapter type selected is not what is connected. Try the 'Auto-detect'. Similar adapters may have different part numbers (i.e. DS9097U-009 similar to DS1411). |
