GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The components listed are lithium battery powered circuits and
peripherals that include the DS1201 tag, DS1204 key, DS1213 smart
socket, DS1216 smart watch, DS1217A or DS1217M1 RAM cartridge,
DS1220Y RAM module, DS1223 configurator, and the DS1225Y RAM
module. Each component is enclosed in a plastic housing and the
battery is epoxy encapsulated to prevent contamination or
accidental discharge. The battery circuit is a backup in case of
power failure. The battery circuit also provides protection from
a reverse charging current into the battery.
ENGINEERING CONSIDERATIONS (NOT FOR FIELD REPRESENTATIVE'S USE):
Use - For use only in products where the acceptability of the
combination is determined by Underwriters Laboratories Inc.
Conditions Of Acceptability - Consideration should be given to
the following when determining the acceptability of these devices
in specific applications.
1. These devices are normally intended for use as components
where replacement is done by a trained technician.
2. These devices may be used as part of a consumer
replacement kit provided the marking and packaging requirements of
Subject 1642 Bulletin, dated March 20, 1984 are followed.
3. These devices are intended for use as components in low
voltage isolated secondary circuits where the case temperature is
not expected to exceed 95°C and the voltage on any pin relative to
ground is a maximum of 7V dc.

4. These devices are considered to meet the requirements for
94V-2 or less flammable material as specified for internal
materials in Paragraph 5.20 of the Fifth Edition of UL 478 or by
the 3/4 in. Flame Test specified in Exception 7.
* Models DS1251#, DS14287, DS17287, DS17487, and DS17887 are
considered to meet the requirements for V-0 flammable material.
They have been evaluated to Appendix A6 of UL 1950.
5. These devices are provided with the applicable reverse charging
current protection circuit either on the chips or discrete
components that are encapsulated with the battery.
6. Consideration should be given to Sub-clause 1.7.17 of UL 1950.

DS1245 is identical to DS1235.

The battery protection circuit for the following lithium battery
integrated circuit (LBIC) is the same as for the integrated circuit
covered in Vol. 1, Sec. 2, Report issued November 11, 1987.
DS1386 is identical to DS1284.

Component Power Module, Model DS3800# and DS9034#, where # may

GENERAL DESCRIPTION (NOT FOR FIELD REPRESENTATIVE'S USE):
The components covered by this Report consist of an integrated
circuit, one or two lithium batteries, and a printed wiring board,
for model DS3800, if not provided with lithium battery integrated
circuit, model DS1254, no printed wiring board is provided. The
entire assembly is provided with a seperate enclosure and
encapsulated with epoxy. For all models except DS3800, the reverse
charging protection to the lithium battery is provided by the
integrated circuit. The integrated circuit has been separately
evaluated and is considered to be a Recognized Component. Model
DS3800 consists of two Recognized lithium batteries in parallel.
The flammability characteristics of the combination of enclosure,
encapsulant, and integrated circuit has been evaluated and found to
be 94V-0.
These devices have been evaluated to the Standard for Information
Technology Equipment, Including Electrical Business Equipment,
UL 1950, Second Edition
ENGINEERING CONSIDERATIONS (NOT FOR FIELD REPRESENTATIVE'S USE):
Use - For use ony in products where the suitability of the
combination is determined by Underwriters Laboratories Inc.
Conditions of Acceptability - The following items are to be
considered when evaluating these devices in the end-use product.
1. This device is intended for use as components in low voltage
secondary circuits (SEC).

2. These devices are considered to meet the requirements for 94V-0
flammable material. They have been evaluated to Appendix A6 of
UL 1950.
3. If these devices are replaced, the replacement is to be done by a
trained technician.
4. With exception to model DS3800 when DS1254 module is not provided,
these devices are provided with the applicable reverse charging
current protection. This protection is provided by the integrated
circuit which is part of the device and encapsulated with the
battery.
5. Consideration should be given to Sub-clause 1.7.17 of UL 1950.
6. These devices may be used as part of a consumer replacement kit
provided the marking and packaging requirements of Subject 1642
bulletin, dated March 20, 1984 are followed.
7. Model DS3800 only: Reverse charging current protection is provided
as part of the chip when the module is provided with lithium
battery integrated circuit model DS1254, otherwise it consists of
only two lithium batteries in parallel. When DS1254 is not provided
the two poles of this device are connected to the batteries the pin
next to the square notch in the molded enclosure and the pin
diagonal to it. The maximum abnormal charging current is 5.0mA.
This module is not rechargeable. If the module is not provided with
model DS1254, the circuit containing the cells or batteries must be
provided with protective components as noted in CL 4.3.21.
