12-BIT, MULTICHANNEL, PARALLEL I/O ADCS FIT IN QSOP PACKAGES

 
 

SUNNYVALE, CA-October 21, 1999-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX1290-MAX1297 parallel interface, 12-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs). Ideal for portable data-acquisition and battery-powered applications, these parts set a new standard for parallel I/O 12-bit ADCs with low cost, small footprint, and sample rates as high as 420ksps. This complete ADC family offers 8-bit and 12-bit interface options, +3V or +5V single-supply operation, an internal reference, and two, four, six, or eight input channels.

The analog inputs are software-configurable for unipolar/bipolar and single-ended/differential operation. The full-scale analog input range is determined by the internal +2.5V reference or by an externally applied reference in the 1V to VDD range.

All parts in the family operate from either a single +3V or +5V analog supply. The MAX1290-MAX1293 also feature a VLOGIC pin and are the only parallel 12-bit ADCs able to interface directly with +1.8V to +5V digital supplies. Consuming only 1.5mA at a sample rate of 100ksps, the devices' software power-down mode reduces supply current to under 10µA at slower sampling rates. The MAX1290-MAX1293 feature an 8-bit parallel I/O, whereas the MAX1294-MAX1297 have a 12-bit parallel I/O.

The MAX1290-MAX1297 are available in 24-pin and 28-pin QSOP packages with prices starting from $5.60 (1000-up, FOB USA).
