INDUSTRY'S HIGHEST POWER (20W) INTEGRATED BOOST DC-DC SOLUTION SAVES SPACE
SUNNYVALE, CA—November 17, 2000—Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX1709 high-frequency, high-power, step-up DC-DC converter. This device sets the standard for space-saving and high-power step-up DC-DC conversion, delivering up to 20W with internal switches from a 16-pin narrow SO package. The MAX1709 operates from a +0.7V to +5V input supply and generates a fixed (+3.3V or +5V) or adjustable (+2.5V to +5.5V) output. The MAX1709s high 600kHz operating frequency permits small external components, while its fixed-frequency PWM operation ensures that the switching noise spectrum is constrained to the 600kHz fundamental and its harmonics, allowing for easy post-filtering in noise-sensitive applications. The MAX1709s combination of small package and tiny external components makes this part an excellent choice for space-constrained nonportable applications, such as telecommunications rack systems.
The MAX1709 includes a variety of features to ease the design process while increasing its flexibility. These features include programmable soft-start and current-limiting, and a two-input shutdown control for simple implementation of push-on/push-off control as well as conventional logic-level control.
The MAX1709 is available in a 16-pin narrow SO package, and is specified for the extended-industrial temperature range (-40° C to +85°C). Prices start at $3.30 (1000-up, FOB, USA).
