DUAL-BAND RECEIVE FRONT END SLASHES SYSTEM COST
SUNNYVALE, CA-November 28, 2000-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX2338 dual-band cellular phone receiver. It is designed for cdmaOne®, cdma2000®, CDMA 1X, and CDMA 1XEV applications. It can also be used for TDMA, EDGE, and UMTS applications. The MAX2338 is unique as it meets the stringent CDMA linearity noise and linearity requirements and includes a low-noise local oscillator divider. The on-chip LO divider eliminates one VCO module, saving valuable board space and cost.
The MAX2338 is built on Maxim's SiGe production process and contains all functional blocks needed for a dual-band receive front end. In addition, it contains the LO divider and dual LO buffer amplifiers to drive the transmitter. The dual-gain cellular low- noise amplifier has +12dBm IIP3 and 15.7dB gain with a noise figure of only 1.4dB. The PCS LNA has 7.7dBm IIP3, 15.3dB gain, and 1.4dB noise figure. The CDMA mixers have over 13dB gain, over 5dBm IIP3, and less than 8dB noise figure. The MAX2338 easily meets all IS-95A and IS-95B specifications. It is also compatible with future generations of cdmaOne as listed above.
The MAX2338 comes in a 28-pin 5mm x 5mm leadless QFN package and requires very few external components. The MAX2338 reduces cost, implementation, and size compared to discrete designs, while improving performance. Prices start at $3.51 (1000-up, FOB USA).
