ALL CHARGE-PUMP TRIPLE-OUTPUT TFT-LCD POWER SUPPLY
SUNNYVALE, CA-December 19, 2000-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX1747 triple-output regulator for TFT-LCD display panels. It uses three charge-pump regulators to make the analog supply voltage for source drivers and on/off voltages for the gate drivers.
The MAX1747 uses a high-performance (200kHz to 2MHz adjustable) charge-pump regulator to provide the +5V source voltage needed. Thus, no inductors are needed to produce a very thin 1% output regulator. The gate on and gate off voltages are produced by using feedback regulating charge-pump regulators. The device offers a low-cost method of producing low-power voltages. All three voltages are sequenced so that they comply with the requirements of the source and gate drivers.
The MAX1747 comes in a very small 20-pin TSSOP (1.1mm max) package and is specified for the extended-industrial temperature range (-40°C to +85°C). Prices start at $2.84 (1000-up, FOB USA). A preassembled evaluation kit is available with recommended external components to help reduce design time.
