業界初サーミスタからディジタルへの変換器、精度の向上及びシステムの簡素化が可能に
SUNNYVALE, CA-March 27, 2002-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX6682 thermistor-to-digital converter. The MAX6682 measures the temperature of an NTC (negative temperature coefficient) thermistor and converts it to a 10-bit + sign word, readable at any time over the SPI-compatible interface.
A thermistor and external fixed resistor form a voltage-divider that is driven by the MAX6682's internal voltage reference. Because the voltage reference is active only during conversions, thermistor power dissipation is greatly reduced, slashing self-heating effects. This can improve measurement accuracy significantly while reducing total system power. The internal voltage reference also gives greater immunity to system noise, further increasing measurement accuracy while simplifying system design.
The device measures the voltage across the external resistor, which is connected in series with the NTC thermistor. By carefully choosing the thermistor and external register, the MAX6682 can be used to measure temperature in environments that are incompatible with conventional temperature sensor ICs.
Communication is carried out over the read-only, SPI-compatible interface. This interface can reach speeds up to 5MHz.
The MAX6682 operates between +3.0V and +5.5V and operates in the -55°C to +125°C military temperature range. The MAX6682 is available in an 8-pin µMAX package.
Prices start at $1.82 (1000-up, FOB USA).
