±50V絶縁型、2Tx/2Rx RS-232トランシーバ、表面実装パッケージ
Note to Editor: The MAX3250 is a truly significant product. This is the first isolated RS-232 device in a surface-mount package.
SUNNYVALE, CA-May 17, 2002-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX3250 ±50V isolated RS-232 transceiver ideal for noisy industrial control and programmable logic controller applications. The ±50V isolation protects the device if the RS-232 lines are short-circuited to a 24V or 48V power bus, which can destroy traditional RS-232 devices or interrupt data transmission. This device is a low-cost, surface-mount alternative to opto-isolated transceivers.
The MAX3250 features a fault output that asserts when the ground difference exceeds ±50V. This output can drive an alarm LED or can be monitored by the processor to prevent operation under a fault condition.
The MAX3250 operates from a single 3.0V to 5.0V supply and features a 20µA shutdown mode. All receiver and transmitter outputs are high impedance in shutdown, allowing multiple interfaces to be connected to the same UART. This device has 2 transmitters and 2 receivers guaranteed to operate at data rates up to 250kbps.
The MAX3250 is available in the commercial and extended temperature ranges in a space-saving 28-pin SSOP package. Prices start at $3.50
(1000-up, FOB USA).
