プログラマブルな電流制限及び短絡保護付、USBチャージポンプコンバータ
SUNNYVALE, CA-May 28, 2002-Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX5008 5V charge pump with user-programmable current limit. Output current limit can be programmed from 1mA to 150mA limiting the maximum current the load can draw from the source. The device includes short-circuit protection for indefinite duration and overtemperature shutdown. An error flag output goes low providing a warning to the system microprocessor if the output current exceeds the programmed current limit or if the output voltage drops out of regulation. Capable of 2.9V to 5.5V input, the MAX5008 can deliver up to 125mA output current. Running at 1MHz switching frequency, only one resistor and four tiny surface-mount ceramic capacitors are required to boost a 3V input to 5V output without the use of an inductor.
The MAX5008 is well suited for USB host appliances operating from 3.3V that need to generate 5V at 100mA to power a USB peripheral such as a mouse or a keyboard. In many designs the MAX5008 will replace two ICs such as a regulated charge pump and a high-side current-limited switch, or an unregulated charge pump and an LDO regulator.
The MAX5008 is available in the extended temperature range (-40°C to +85°C) in the 10-pin µMAX package (1.1mm height). Prices start at $1.08 (1000-up, FOB USA).
