小型、5GHz、SiGe 低電力シャットダウン機能を搭載した低ノイズアンプ
Note to Editor: The MAX2649 is the industry's first LNA to offer an integrated low-power shutdown function. This feature saves precious board space and about $0.10 worth of external components. Its gain and noise figure performance exceeds that offered by more expensive GaAs LNA ICs. Compared to discrete LNAs, the MAX2649's integrated active bias network saves an additional transistor and three passive components while maintaining stable RF performance over supply and temperature variations.
SUNNYVALE, CA-September 5, 2002-Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX2649 low-noise amplifier (LNA), the industry's first 5GHz LNA to integrate a low-power shutdown function. When activated, the LNA draws less than 1µA, preserving battery life in portable 802.11a WLAN and 5GHz cordless phones. The integrated shutdown saves board space and about $0.10 worth of external components. The MAX2649 provides 17dB gain, 2.1dB noise figure, and 0dBm input IP3 at 5.2GHz while consuming only 12.5mA. The high-gain, low-noise, and high-linearity performance make it flexible for use as a first- or second-stage LNA, an LO buffer, or a transmitter driver amplifier.
The MAX2649 is designed on a proprietary low-noise, advanced silicon germanium (SiGe) process optimized for high-frequency applications. Its performance compares favorably to that offered by more expensive GaAs ICs, which are typically 12dB to 15dB gain and 2.5dB noise figure. Compared to discrete designs, the MAX2649's integrated active bias network saves one transistor and three passive components, while maintaining stable RF performance over supply and temperature variations.
The LNA is available in the compact 2 5 3 UCSP chip-scale package measuring 1.0mm x 1.5mm, 60% smaller than an SC70. Total board space required is only 11mm2. Prices start at $1.25 (1000-up, FOB USA). A fully assembled evaluation kit (MAX2649EVKIT) is available to help reduce design time.
