Note to Editor: The MAX6453-MAX6456 are dual-voltage µP supervisors that monitor voltages from 0.63V to 5V. These devices offer a manual reset output and a VCC reset output. The outputs for the MAX6453/MAX6454 act independently, with the manual reset input asserting the manual reset output, and the reset output asserted by a VCC fault condition. The manual reset function of the MAX6455/MAX6456 can assert both the manual reset output and the VCC reset output, thus allowing a soft/hard reset condition.
SUNNYVALE, CA-November 11, 2002-Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX6453-MAX6456 microprocessor (µP) supervisory circuits with a VCC reset output and a manual reset output. These dual-voltage µP supervisors are designed to monitor voltages from 0.63V to 5V and offer a separate manual reset output to simplify front-panel and set-top-box designs.
Whenever a monitored voltage falls below its reset threshold or manual reset is asserted (MAX6455/MAX6456), the reset output asserts and stays asserted for at least the minimum reset timeout (140ms) after all monitored voltages rise above their reset thresholds and manual reset is deasserted. Nine factory-fixed thresholds are available for monitoring 1.8V to 5V systems. An adjustable reset input allows a second voltage to be monitored down to 0.63V.
The MAX6453/MAX6454 feature a manual reset input with an independent manual reset output. When the manual reset is asserted, the manual reset output asserts and remains asserted for at least the minimum manual reset timeout period (140ms) after the manual reset deasserts. The MAX6455/MAX6456 feature a manual reset input that controls the manual reset and VCC reset outputs. The manual reset output for the MAX6455/MAX6456 is asserted immediately on the falling edge and remains asserted for the manual reset timeout period after the manual reset deasserts. If the manual reset input is held for 6.72s, the reset output also asserts and remains asserted for at least the minimum reset timeout period after the manual reset is deasserted. This allows the manual reset input to provide both a soft and hard reset function.
Active-low, push-pull and active-low open-drain reset outputs are available. These devices are offered in SOT23 packages and fully specified from -40°C to +85°C. Prices start at $1.38 (2,500- or 10,000-piece minimum, FOB USA).
