(NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX8530/MAX8531/MAX8532, the industry's smallest, low-noise, low-dropout (LDO) linear regulators. Overall solution size is 80% smaller than the competition's, making these devices ideal for low-noise, space-sensitive applications. Applications include cellular phones, PDAs, and wireless LANs. Package area is 1.8mm2 in a 6-bump UCSP (1.63mm x 1.12mm) versus 9mm2 (MFL package) for the closest competitor.
The MAX8530/MAX8531 are dual linear regulators and the MAX8532 is a single linear regulator. All devices have preset output voltage combinations between 1.5V and 3.3V with 1% output accuracy. The MAX8531 offers low-noise performance: only 40µVRMS output noise and up to 60dB PSRR.
The MAX8530 incorporates both a 200mA LDO and 150mA LDO with a 140ms timed reset and only 130µA ground current for two outputs.
To maximize battery life in portable applications, these devices feature 100mV of dropout at 100mA and less than 1µA of shutdown current. The MAX8510/MAX8511/MAX8512 provide thermal-overload and short-circuit protection, and have an input voltage range from 2.5V to 6.5V.
The MAX8530/MAX8531/MAX8532 are available in space-saving
6-bump UCSP and 6-pin thin QFN packages screened for the extended-industrial temperature range (-40°C to +85°C). Prices start at $0.68 (1000-up, FOB USA).
