(NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX9710/MAX9711 audio amplifiers. The MAX9710 is a 3W, stereo, bridge-tied-load (BTL) audio amp and the MAX9711 is a 3W, mono, BTL audio amp. These amplifiers operate from a single 4.5V to 5.5V supply and feature an industry-leading 100dB PSRR, allowing operation from noisy supplies without additional power-supply conditioning. Ultra-low 0.005% THD+N ensures clean, low-distortion amplification of the audio signal. Patented click-and-pop suppression eliminates audible transients on power and shutdown cycles.
Power-saving features include a low 2mV offset voltage to minimize DC-current drain through the speakers, a low 7mA supply current, and a 0.5µA shutdown mode. A MUTE function allows the outputs to be quickly enabled or disabled.
The MAX9710 is available in thermally efficient 20-pin QFN (5mm x 5mm x 0.8mm) or 16-pin TSSOP-EP (exposed pad) packages. The MAX9711 is available in a tiny, 12-pin QFN (4mm x 4mm x 0.8mm) package. Both devices have complete thermal overload protection and are specified over the extended -40°C to +85°C temperature range. Prices for the MAX9711ETC start at $0.55 (100k-up, FOB USA).
