(NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX7445-MAX7449 family of low-cost, buffered, 4-channel video reconstruction filters. These devices are ideal for anti-aliasing and DAC-smoothing video applications, or whenever analog video is reconstructed from a digital data stream, such as cable/satellite/terrestrial set-top boxes, DVD players, hard-disk recorders (HDR), and personal video recorders (PVRs). The MAX7445-MAX7449 use a continuous-time, Butterworth-type response lowpass filter to attenuate the sampling frequency of the DAC encoder. Internal video signal-timing extraction and clamping allow excellent video performance while saving design time. Each buffered output is capable of driving two standard video loads.
The MAX7445-MAX7449 operate from a single +5V supply and have a flat passband out to 5MHz, ideal for NTSC, PAL, and standard-definition (SDTV) video signals with a stopband of 41dB at 27MHz. An external pin adjusts the gain of the video buffer to either +6dB, +9.5dB, or +12dB to accommodate video encoder DAC output signals of <1V. An external pin can disable output control.
The MAX7446 processes CVBS, R, G, and B video signals, making it ideal for European SCART set-top boxes. The MAX7447 processes CVBS, Y, C, and a second asynchronous CVBS video signal. The MAX7448 processes R, G, B, and CVBS (asynchronous) video signals, while the MAX7449 is a 3-channel device for R, G, and B video signals and an external sync video system. The MAX7445 supports all of the above 4-channel applications.
The MAX7445-MAX7449 are low-cost, high-performance replacements for standard discrete filter and buffer solutions. These devices are available in a 14-pin TSSOP package in the extended (-40°C to +85°C) temperature range. Prices start at $1.45 (1000-up, FOB USA).
