単一通信ラインから駆動可能な8チャネル、双方向ポートエキスパンダ
DALLAS, TX-April 18, 2003-Dallas Semiconductor (NASDAQ:MXIM) introduces the DS2408 1-Wire® 8-channel addressable switch. This bidirectional port expander operates with the standard Dallas Semiconductor 1-Wire interface (a single communication line plus ground return). The DS2408 is ideal for applications where a large number of I/O ports are needed between a host system and a remote peripheral or system, yet the host system has a very limited number of ports available. In addition, multiple DS2408s can reside on a common 1-Wire network and operate independently of each other. For example, a single port pin on a microcontroller could control three DS2408s and access up to 24 GPIO channels.
The 1-Wire interface provides the capability to communicate and deliver device power over a single twisted pair of wires at distances up to 300m. The eight channels of GPIO are open-drain and have a 100 maximum on-resistance. The data-valid strobe output can be used to latch GPIO logic states into or out of external circuitry such as data converters or a microcontroller data bus. GPIO activity can also be captured in an internal activity latch to support momentary contact applications such as keypad or pushbutton input. Each device is factory lasered with a unique, 64-bit, ROM-based registration number to provide a guaranteed unique identity for absolute traceability.
Typical applications for the DS2408 include industrial control, instrumentation, test measurement, and rack-based systems such as central office switches, wireless base stations, and PBXs. Prices start at $2.70 (1000-up, FOB USA).
