0.1μA超低静止電流、6V~24V入力、高性能デスクトップ、サーバ、及びノートブック用MOSFETドライバ
SUNNYVALE, CA-December 1, 2003-Maxim Integrated Products
(NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX8552 single-phase MOSFET driver IC optimized to complement the MAX8524/MAX8525 high-performance CPU core-supply controllers. Featuring a wide input range of 6V to 24V, the MAX8552 drives the upper and lower MOSFETs in synchronous-buck, DC-DC converters for CPUs in servers, desktop, and notebook PCs. With its extremely low 0.1µA (typ) quiescent current over the entire temperature range, the MAX8552 reduces power dissipation in dense-blade servers and increases battery life in notebook computers. Logic-controlled shutdown permits sleep or standby modes in power-sensitive applications.
The MAX8552 drives 3000pF capacitive loads with only 12ns propagation delay, with rise and fall times of 11ns (typ). This enables operation up to 2MHz per phase with the TDFN package and up to 1.2MHz per phase with the µMAX_package. Adaptive-delay mode and user-programmable break-before-make circuitry prevent shoot-through currents, maximizing converter efficiency. The MAX8552 prevents negative transients on the output voltage during shutdown, thus eliminating the need for an additional Schottky diode to protect the CPU from negative voltages.
The MAX8552 is available in the tiny 10-pin µMAX and 10-pin TDFN packages. These devices are specified for the extended-industrial temperature range (-40°C to +85°C). Prices for the MAX8552EUB/MAX8552ETB start at $0.75 (1000-up, FOB USA). Flexible 2-/3-/4-phase evaluation kits using the MAX8552/MAX8525 are available to speed designs.
